Police in Mombasa have launched an intensive manhunt for two murder suspects who escaped from Mwatamba Police Station on Wednesday evening.
The two suspects, who were being held pending investigations into a murder case, reportedly staged a dramatic escape after cutting through a rear window grill before fleeing from the station.
Mombasa County Police Commander Stella Jerop confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were in custody following a court order as investigations continued.
Jerop said security officers have since launched a search operation to track down and re-arrest the two men, who are considered dangerous.
The police commander has urged members of the public to provide any information that may help in locating the suspects.
She further advised residents not to confront the suspects if they spot them, but instead report immediately to the nearest police station or contact security authorities.
Police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to ensure the two escapees are arrested and returned to custody.
